Inner-City Kids Sing Praises with Purpose

When was the last time you advanced the cause of an international children’s ministry? Not lately? No worries.

Gospo & The Gospel Kids (GGK) is a group of extraordinary, Stellar-award nominated inner-city kids from LA (ages 6-12) who need your help to complete their third children’s gospel CD.  

GGK is using a fundraising website called Kickstarter.com to raise funds. Kickstarter.com is an all-or-nothing-funding plan, which means if GGK meets its funding goal by October 18 at midnight, they’ll receive all the funds pledged during the 30-day period. 

However, if they fall short of their $4,900 goal, then none of the backers' credit cards will be charged. Worse, Gospo & The Gospel Kids will not get a single penny of the pledges to complete their third CD.

“We’re teaching these anointed inner-city kids that they don’t need to record scandalous lyrics to gain acclaim; they can live for Jesus with integrity and still be recognized,” said TGKS Gospel Records, LLC Vice President Horace Christian. 

TGKS Gospel Records, LLC is a children’s gospel record label started by Christian, Elder Lamar Johnson,  and his wife, Sandra Moore-Johnson.

The children of Gospo & The Gospel Kids come from various challenging family circumstances and while they may never get “discovered” by the mainstream music industry, they have something to say nonetheless, and GGK’s founders are encouraging them to keep singing because “God is listening.”

“My wife and I are focused on nurturing kids from our community whose parents may not have the finances to involve them in afterschool and weekend activities,” said Elder Johnson. “We’re teaching them that their contributions are important and that their voices matter.”    

“A world of new and exciting opportunities open to these babies when they hear themselves on CD, and when they see the community respond to their songs,” says Mrs. Moore-Johnson.

“Any one of these amazing kids could be the next U.S. President, Michelle Obama, John P. Kee or Danny Bakewell, Sr,” she concluded.
