Dr. Betty Price

Women With the Mind of Christ, based on Romans 12:2, is the theme of the Womens Day observance on Saturday, September 15, at 11 a.m., and Sunday, September 16, at 9 a.m., at Brookins Community A.M.E. Church, 4831 South Gramercy Place in Los Angeles.

The weekend celebration, chaired by First Lady Yvette Williams, salutes women of faith in the congregation and the community, said Pastor C. Dennis Williams.

Women play an essential role in kingdom building and we are pleased to join with Brookins Womens Ministry to acknowledge some of the outstanding individuals in both our congregation and the greater LA area.

Kicking-off the celebration is the Annual Womens Day Awards Luncheon on Saturday in the churchs Fellowship Hall. Exhorter Gwen Williams, a member of Brookins Ministerial staff, will be the guest speaker.  In addition, awards will be presented to an exceptional youth, young adult, seasoned and legendary honoree.

Sundays worship will feature Dr. Betty Price as guest speaker. An assistant minister, Dr. Price serves with her husband and son, Apostle Frederick K.C. Price and Pastor Frederick Price, as spiritual leaders of Crenshaw Christian Center.  She has authored several books including Through the Fire and Through the Water: My Triumph Over Cancer and Standing By Gods Man.’

Also, Wendy Raquel Robinson will receive the Brookins Community Trailblazer Award.  Robinson is an award-winning film and television actress and co-founder of Amazing Grace Conservatory, an acting, dance and voice training academy in South Los Angeles.

The Brookins Womens Day Committee includes Mae Taylor Johnson, Jan McKnight, Lula Jones, Dorothy Cobb, Faye Byrd, Yivette Odell, Bronda Everett Eagans, Barbara Davie, Florence Davis, Betty Madison, Cynthia Mayes, Lorraine Nelson, Emma Patterson, Lillie Pruitt, the Rev.
