Bishop T. Larry Kirkland, Sr., will be the special guest for the Black History Worship Service on Sunday, February 19, at 11 a.m., at St. Stephens A.M.E. Church, 1265 East 64th Street in Los Angeles.

"We invite the entire L.A. community to attend and hear Bishop Kirkland deliver a powerful word from the Lord," said Pastor Michael Carr.

"He is internationally known for his Christ-centered messages that you can apply to your life today."

Bishop Kirkland is the presiding prelate of the 5th Episcopal District and president of the General Board of the A.M.E. Church. Currently marking his 50th year in the ministry, he is often consulted by local and national leaders for his expertise in religious matters.

For 20 years, he was pastor of Brookins Community A.M.E. Church in Los Angeles where the congregation grew from 12 to 8,000 members under his leadership. Also, he is the author of several books on church growth.

A graduate of Alcorn State University, he received his master's degree from Mississippi State University and attended Claremont School of Theology and California Graduate School of Theology.
