One assignment this year was to bring three goals. I wanted to enter in agreement with our congregation at the point of their need.
Let your goals be a point of contact for releasing faith with God. Genuine biblical faith produces hope and we all need inspiration. You never want to be stagnant and live in the realm of disappointment. Take the opportunity to stretch your faith believing God for greater fulfillments, deeper commitments and contentment.
Agreement invites others to celebrate the victories God has for your life. May I suggest three reasons for the Power of Agreement (Hebrews 6:13-20): God is our Source, Guide and Reward.
(1) God is our Source. He holds us together as we enter into our blessings. Here’s the shouting part: God cannot lie. He swore and took an oath on His Name since there’s none greater than the God of all creation.
He swore to Abraham and to us since we receive the promises of Abraham by faith (Rom 4:23-25). His mercies are fresh every morning: just as real today as they were in Abraham’s day, just as powerful, just as effective, just as life changing and heart impacting. He said, "I will certainly bless you and give you many descendants." (Hebrews 6:14)
(2) God is our Guide. You’re never alone: His Presence is here right now. His Word guides and redirects us even when we go astray. His blessings are available, but there’s something we must do.
Faith is an action word and hope is more than wish. God has equipped us to move in a spirit of agreement with the Bible. No matter how good He is, you must be receptive to the power of God.
Do you believe this year will be better than the year before? Is there anything too hard for God? I don’t know how long you’ve been waiting for your break through, but there’s a glory that God wants to get out of you demonstrating you’re His child.
We live to express His glory so others are drawn to Him. That’s our primary created purpose and the blessings of God are the by-product of our resolutions before Him, our partners in agreement and the watching world.
(3) God is our Reward. No matter what I say or do, my desires are for more of Jesus. All of your desires rise and fall on your relationship to Jesus as your Savior and Lord, while the by-product of our receiving must be to acknowledge God’s glory.
For every problem, God has a solution. For every heartbreak, God has a lesson waiting to be learned. For every no, God has a yes. For every disappointment, there’s a celebration waiting to take its place.
Allow these final words of Hebrews 6:18-20 to encourage you: “God did this so that we would be encouraged. God cannot lie when he takes an oath or makes a promise. These two things can never be changed.
“Those of us who have taken refuge in him hold on to the confidence we have been given. We have this confidence as a sure and strong anchor for our lives. This confidence goes into the holy place behind the curtain where Jesus went before us on our behalf. He has become the chief priest forever in the way Melchizedek was a priest.”
I believe it and confess it to be so, in Jesus' Name.
