CHIEF DEPUTY DISTRICT ATTORNEY JACKIE LACEY

UNANIMOUSLY ENDORSED BY

LOS ANGELES COUNTY DEMOCRATIC PARTY

LOS ANGELES - Chief Deputy District Attorney Jackie Lacey, the front-runner in the race for Los Angeles County District Attorney, has received the unanimous endorsement of the Los Angeles County Democratic Party in the November 6, 2012, runoff election.

"Jackie Lacey has the prosecutorial and executive experience to be a first-class District Attorney.  She will demand that LA's criminal justice system uphold the Democratic values of justice and equality for all, while promoting innovative approaches and solutions to the prosecution and disposition of criminal cases.  The Los Angeles County Democratic Party proudly endorses Jackie Lacey for District Attorney," said Eric C. Bauman, Chair of the Los Angeles County Democratic Party.

Lacey was the top vote-getter in the June primary election.  If elected, Lacey would be the first woman and the first African American to serve as District Attorney of Los Angeles County.  To learn more about Jackie Lacey, visit www.jackielacey.com.

Lacey is the only Democrat in the countywide race.  More than half of Los Angeles County's voters are registered Democrats.  They represent 51 percent of the electorate compared to just 23 percent for Republicans. LACDP's endorsements in local and municipal races become the official endorsements of the California Democratic Party.

Lacey is endorsed by a broad bipartisan coalition led by Republican District Attorney Steve Cooley and 62,000 front-line law enforcement officers.  She also is endorsed by the Los Angeles Times and the Daily News.

A 26-year veteran of the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office, Lacey has worked her way up through the ranks from front-line prosecutor to second-in-command of the nation's largest local prosecutorial office.

Lacey was born and raised in Los Angeles. She attended Dorsey High School and graduated from USC Law School. Lacey joined the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office in 1986. She has prosecuted hundreds of serious criminal cases, including Los Angeles County's first race-based hate crime murder against three Nazi Low Riders. Lacey has been in leadership positions for the past 11 years.
