The 100 Black Men of Los Angeles, Inc. announced that it has formed a five year partnership with Black Education Events, LLC. to celebrate the history and prominence of Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) around the annual Angel City Classic Black College football game. The game, which features the exciting traditions of Black college football and marching band competitions, will be held on September 8, and hopes to generate interest among west coast college bound students in attending an HBCU. Black Education Events, LLC., a Dallas based events firm, has selected the 100 Black Men of Los Angeles, Inc. to be its primary local charity beneficiary for scholarship proceeds. Black Education Events, LLC. has committed to funding fifty scholarships over the next five years from proceeds of the annual classic. The scholarships will go to the Young Black Scholars Program, an educational activity of the 100 Black Men of Los Angeles.

“The Angel City Classic will bring the Black community together, and at a time when Black males college enrollment is declining, this is an excellent opportunity educate the public and college bound students about the rich traditions of HBCUs. Our Young Black Scholars program has sent over 18,000 L.A. students to college over the past 21 years, and this opportunity to partner with the Angel City Classic insures that.
