Entertainer extraordinaire takes Hollywood by storm
“You think so therefore you are…you can achieve what ever you believe and just keep reaching for the stars”. These wise words are from multitalented ‘tween sensation’ 2 Krayze.
Born Brandon C. Smith, 2 Krayze is a poet, actor, musician, singer, producer, writer, dancer, talented basketball player and exceptional baseball player. 2 Krayze has performed at the “House of Blues” with Bobby Brown and some dates with Charlie Wilson of the Gap Band. 2 Krayze has also opened for Chingy, E-40, Young Dro, Yung Joc, Zapp and he was a featured artist on a tour with Lil Romeo.
Being only 15 years of age its amazing how 2 Krayze balances school work, rehearsals, dance choreographing, and sports. With aspirations to obtain a degree in Law and Business, 2 Krayze spends an ample amount of time throughout the year traveling the country leading a very successful Stay in School campaign.
“I really like going to stay in School assemblies,” 2 Krayze said. “Like I had one in Dallas and they gave me a standing ovation because I was talking about some real stuff. And we went in too the ghettos of Dallas, to the middle schools, to the High Schools, to the elementary schools and they were really digging what I was felling because it’s the truth.”
2 Krayze utilizes his academic, musical and creative acumen to focus on diverse concepts of reaching the youth. 2 Krayze co-produced his self-entitled album. His music is based upon just having fun, “Let’s Jam” and how kids should “Stay in School” and abstain from sex, drugs, tobacco and alcohol. Some songs on 2 Krayze’s album like “Mama’s Boi” are about integrity, respecting your self, others and loving your mother and father. “Black or White” is about having faith, world peace and how “Life is a ‘Meting pot’ of people striving to do what is right”.
2 Krayze says, “I don’t like using the word positive because it’s just real music. I do all my tracks, I write all of my music, and I don’t really like to put my music in a box. But if I had to put my music in a category I would make my own and say, new school meets old school”.
2 Krayze plays several different instruments (drums, guitar, and keyboard) but on his self-entitled album he only plays keyboard. His album includes legendary features such as Michal Cooper from Confunction and members of the Gap Band.
“All my tracks are hot”, 2 Krayze said. “They all have that dirty south appeal because I recorded down in Houston. I don’t preach to kids and people but I am telling people there is a better way out there. That if you listen to music yes you can nod your head because the beat is tight but you are also listening to something that when you really think about it, it’s true. You can use it toward your life. So it’s not just for kids it’s for everybody just to think that there is a better way out there and a better choice. Life’s about making choices. There are consequences for choices, no matter if the choice was good or bad”.
2 Krayze is also a featured artist on Radio Disney’s “Incubator Program”. He is also a national and local representative for the NBA’s “Reading to Achieve” program. 2 Krayze has performed at the NBA All Star Weekend “NBA Reading Rally”, ‘Club NBA All Star Jam Session’ and NBA Center Court/ Special Concert with Jon B, Amerie and Ruben Studdard. Joe Maloof, NBA Sacramento Kings owner and Mr. G. William Hunter, Executive Director of the National Players’ Association are huge supporters of 2 Krayze.
Congresswoman Maxine Waters is also a huge fan of 2 Krayze. The Congresswoman invited 2 Krayze to the 33rd and 36th Congressional Black Caucus Foundation Annual Legislative Conference in Washington D.C. 2 Krayze was a special guest and sat on the panel of the “Young, Gifted & Black Forum” with Reverend Jesse Jackson. Reverend Jackson is also noted as being one of 2 Krayze’s biggest supporters. 2 Krayze’s performed several times at Rainbow Push’s National Convention.
With all of his talents and industry experience, a person must ask them self, where did all of 2 Krayze’s talent come from? And the answer is look no further than his parents. Both veterans of the entertainment industry his mom and manger, Renee G. is a CEO of Ennuye Multi-Media and a former Warner Brothers and CBS executive and his dad George Smith helped spearhead the careers of many legendary entertainers and producers.
2 Krayze recalled back in the day when his parents were running a studio in the Bay Area called Brand News Place Multi Media Complex. His mom Rene G. use to have a lot of underprivileged kids coming in from San Francisco that wanted to record in their studio. These kids felt they could just drop out of school and go straight to the music studio and all of a sudden Lamborghini’s and money would come in. That really made 2 Krayze think “do kids really think that’s all you have to do”. That’s what inspired him to write “Stay in School”.
Training with legends such as Seth Briggs who trained the legends such as Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder, and Ray Charles, 2 Krayze is with a doubt on his way to being one of Hollywood’s most sought after talents.
You can catch 2 Krayze live in action at the Alameda County Fair opening up for Boys II Men and also the Michael Jordan foundation has called and wants to work with 2 Krayze on a lot of up and coming things.
