FOLLOW US:

I have tried and tried to talk about something other than Barack Obama and this election, but every single solitary week something happens in this campaign to either inspire me or piss me off and I continuously feel a need to bring this issue up to you our devoted readers.

Recently, I was in my favorite restaurant Harold and Belles with 2 good friends of mine and we were discussing the DNC Convention, when out of nowhere I was asked did I really believe Barack Obama would be elected President. Like all of us I let out a resounding YES, and then went on to discuss how I was hoping and praying that he would be elected and that my faith would not let me believe other wise.

Then we got into a discussion about, did I think American would elect another Republican administration given the state of our country, our economy and our place in the world? And, to that I said either Barack Obama will win or America will show their real colors and their real racism.

Now, I feel a need to expand on that. Let’s be real. America has major problems. The housing market is in the dumps, there is a house in foreclosure on almost every block in America, fuel prices are so bad we are celebrating gas at $4.50 a gallon, the dollar is worth less than most major countries’ money, our education system has gone to hell (if I had not gone to the Great Verbum Dei High School I might not have been able to spell hell), unemployment is at an all time high, we are back to the trillion dollar deficits we had during the Reagan and Bush I era, our credibility amongst our allies and other foreign countries is at an all time low and oh yes, we are at WAR.

All of these occurrences lay right at the hands of George W. II and his Republican counterparts, so why would we not elect a Harvard graduate, with new ideas, new energy, the respect of not only Americans but leaders and their constituents all over the world (did you see the 200,000 people who showed up in Germany?), a proven leader who speaks not only of fiscal responsibility but also of family responsibility. A man who can speak to the CEO of any Fortune 500 company and then leave there and play basketball with some brothers from the hood and then relate to what life is like as a single parent, trying to do your absolute best for your family.

This is the kind of leadership we need, we are embracing and who I am proud to be going to Denver to nominate as my President of the United States. So, again I say, if America does not elect Barack Obama, then their choice is obvious—they have chosen racism over progress and a better quality—that they would rather struggle, let their children struggle and let us all be lost than elect the right man (Black or White) to lead us out of this mess we are currently in.

So, whether you agree or disagree, now more than ever I really need your input. I need to hear from you now more than ever. I need to know what is going on in our community. I also need to know what other stories we need to tell, and what is on your mind. I really do want to hear from you, I want you to “Talk to Danny.”

Sincerely,
