FOLLOW US:

Award winning artist and Los Angeles Sentinel political cartoonist, David G. Brown, will soon release his latest project; "Barack, Race and the Media: Drawing my own Conclusions" a satirical collection of his most popular editorial cartoons that have stimulated conversations in readers since he began producing them weekly in 2003.

The publication of his first collection of political cartoons is of historical significance because it largely focuses on the first African-American nominee of a major party running for President of the United States, Democratic Senator Barack Obama.  Who now is on the threshold of becoming the first African American president of the most powerful nation on the earth!  In addition it will include cartoons of celebrities, global events, and a myriad of political figures that captured the attention of the world and fell under the scrutinizing pen of David G. Brown.  Some will make you laugh, some will bring back memories, but all will strike a responsive cord.

Brown was awarded the NNPA's prestigious Merit Award for "Best Editorial Cartoon" in 2004, 2005, 2006 and 2008.  His work is also featured in features the 2005 through 2008 editions of the "Best Editorial Cartoons of the Year" published by Pelican Publishing Company Inc.

"David's work makes people laugh, angry, and brings out a lot of emotion," commented Brown's former Los Angeles Sentinel editor, James Bolden.  "But most importantly, his cartoons have initiated much-needed dialogue about issues affecting African Americans for over the last five years.  In light of Barak Obama's history-making run for president, I believe David's latest project, "Barack, Race and the Media: Drawing my own Conclusions" is a must with respect to collector's items documenting one of the most significant times in our life."
