In my opinion true growth is obtained when a person understands their faults and consciously attempts to recognize behaviors that promote ill conduct; thus, changing their habits and becoming a healthier person both mentally and physically.

Hello world, I'm currently seated in an uncomfortable chair looking forward to a long night as I'm working an over time shift to earn extra money in this poor economy. I hope peace is with you along with fond memories as the holiday season is among us. Now, the point of this week's article is positive growth. I've learned a bit more about myself and I've made a friend. If you recall, last week I was involved in a verbal altercation with my supervisor. Well, there is no build up of animosity nor do I see him as a dictator.

Oddly enough, we had the type of conversation that rest in the back of ones mind throughout their existence. These types of discussions are few and far between because they are humbling and emotional.  Being a man, at times I fail to make a connection with these opportunities to find growth in myself as my ego stands guard over my emotions. Well, I discovered in myself that I subconsciously express an ill attitude with people I have discrepancy with; over time these discrepancies can form tight lips and sarcastic remarks.

What I thought was strange was actually an offering of friendship. What I thought as a potential threat was an expression of someone else's frustration. As human beings we are far from faultless and most of the time we manipulate our own thoughts, to appease our egos. Well, I never have to walk on eggshells while working under this supervisor, simply because he understands positive growth. What I assumed to be a disastrous ordeal turned out to be the opposite.

So, I ask all of you this question, if given the opportunity to discover positive growth within yourself and others, would you pursue it? Or would you allow your ego to block what could potentially lead to a healthier mentality?
