1st Annual Event Benefits Christian Uriah Bruce Education Fund

Fo' Real Performing Arts Production Company presents "Black Nativity - A Gospel Celebration of the Birth of Jesus" December 18, 19 and 20 at 8:00 p.m. at John Muir High School Auditorium, located at 1905 N. Lincoln Avenue (free parking).

Well-known actors from the Hollywood scene have agreed to participate in this first annual family-friendly holiday concert. Singers, dancers and musicians highlight this inspiring and entertaining program. Matthew Dickens will direct and Maestro Delbert Taylor (from the infamous group 'Slave') is the musical director.

Proceeds benefit The Christian Uriah Bruce (CUB) Education Fund.  Christian, the 20-year-old son of Pasadena resident Brandilyn M. Amie (founder of Fo' Real Performing Arts Production Company) died suddenly on campus last November due to complications of meningitis. Christian attended Tuskegee University in Alabama, majoring in mechanical engineering. The popular and well-liked student was very involved not only with the university, but with the Tuskegee community as well.

Says his mother, "While cleaning his room I found a list of things to do on his agenda. Among the many plans and goals was a memo he wrote to himself...'I want to help seven of my classmates'. I don't know what he had in mind, but I thought it would be perfect to help these impressive young men with their last semester of tuition. The foundation was created to continue the outreach work that Christian had begun, including helping seven friends who will graduate May 2009."

Christian Uriah Bruce was a young man with a purpose larger than himself, with a tremendous belief in the good of humankind. His motto was "I am my brother's keeper". He was committed to make a positive difference in the lives of others - and had a distinguished record of public service and community outreach.

"It's of some comfort to know that my son left a legacy of making a difference and helping his fellow man," expresses Brandilyn M. Amie. I'd like to invite the community to join us for this amazing production and to help these seven students at Tuskegee realize their dream, and my son's."

Tickets are $21 for adults; $10 for seniors and students. Checks can be mailed to CUB Education Fund, P.O. Box 60411, Pasadena, CA 91116. Tickets will be held at the door.  To reserve tickets call 626-791-4752 or email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
