If old or erroneous information on personal records is preventing your progress in life, the Brookins Legal Clinic can assist you in having those details removed.
According to the Rev. Dr. C. Dennis Williams, pastor of Brookins Community A.M.E. Church, expert attorneys and paralegals will be present on Saturday, May 5, at 2 p.m., to help people in these situations. The workshop will be held in the church's fellowship hall at 4831 South Gramercy Place in Los Angeles.
"Attorney Shahiedah Coates, our Legal Clinic chair, has assembled several lawyers with successful track records in criminal expungements and sealing records. We encourage you to take advantage of their expertise by bringing your case documents to this free session," said Dr. Williams.
Inaccurate background information can affect many areas of an individual's life, said Attorney Coates. "But, our legal team will help you complete petitions on-site, so if you or someone you know is in need of an expungement for employment, school, or some other purpose, bring your criminal record, proof of completion of sentence, and identification to the clinic.
"Criminal records can be obtained from the Department of Justice or any County Courthouse," she said. "In addition, attorneys will be on hand with expertise in small business and nonprofits, criminal defense, family law, government benefits, personal injury, probate, and evictions."
