HBO two-our event was best bet for inaugural weekend

On the steps of the Lincoln memorial, President Barack Obama was given an inaugural celebration of a lifetime during HBO's live taping of We Are One: The Obama Inaugural Celebration. 

If anyone ever doubted President Barack Obama's influence and mass appeal, this past Sunday the crowd recorded in the hundreds of thousands gathered in Washington D.C. to witness the unique mystique and aura of President Barack Obama.

Not since Martin Luther King and Malcolm X has there been a public speaker that drew so many people from so many different walks of life.

The special HBO two-hour event was broadcast live on an open signal and it featured a mix of historical speeches and spiritually inspired music.

The unique concert event was one of many events that capped a weekend of celebrity engagements in D.C. Like no other engagement HBO' We Are One: The Obama Inaugural Celebration brought Hollywood's biggest and brightest to the steps of the capital to honor the President.

Honoring a living legend in President Barack Obama, the inaugural celebration featured some of today's top artist and yesterday's favorites.

Stars such as Denzel Washington, Tom Hanks, Queen Latifah George Lopez, Jamie Foxx, Forest Whittaker, Ashley Judd, Samuel L. Jackson and Tiger Woods spoke to the crowd thanking President Barack Obama and crediting yesterday's heroes and legends for getting us to where we are today.

The music was just as memorable as the likes of U2, Mary J. Blige, John Legend, Herbie Hancock, Sheryl Crow, Will.i.am, Usher, Stevie Wonder, Shakera and Beyonce', blessed the stage with memorable performances.

Obama also took the stage to thank performers and audience members for sharing in the celebration.

"Welcome to Washington, and welcome to this celebration of American renewal," he said. "As I stand here tonight, what gives me the greatest hope . . . is you: Americans of every race and region and station who came here because you believe in what this country can be and because you want to help us get there."
