The Rev. Al Sharpton, a prominent civil rights activist, will be the special guest speaker at Southern Missionary Baptist Church on Sunday, March 1, 2009. The former presidential candidate is scheduled to speak at the 10:30 a.m. worship service.

Considered one of America’s most renowned civil rights leaders, Rev. Al Sharpton is a man with a heart and firm ideological beliefs. You don’t want to miss an opportunity to hear this dynamic, passionate, compelling and engaging speaker!

Pastor Xavier L. Thompson, upon confirming this notable figure’s presence at Southern Baptist, said he is eagerly anticipating the timeless message for and to the masses that will ring with answers for today’s turbulent times.

As a national political figure, Rev. Sharpton’s success as a role model and leader continues the tradition of influential civil rights leaders like Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and the Rev. Jesse Jackson. As an activist, Sharpton has been involved in some of the most politically and racially charged events of the past twenty years. As a gospel preacher, his doctrine is sound and challenges the listener to accept the message of Christ.

Southern Missionary Baptist Church is located at 4678 West Adams Boulevard in Los Angeles. Rev. Xavier L. Thompson is the Pastor.
