Radio Free KJLH 102.3FM's Front Page show will host a debate on Proposition 8 between journalist and commentator Jasmyne Cannick and controversial Muslim author Shahrazad Ali (The Blackman's Guide to Understanding the Blackwoman, Are You Still a Slave?).

The debate will take place live Friday, March 13, between 4:30 a.m. and 6 a.m. locally on KJLH 102.3 FM and can be heard worldwide at www.kjlhradio.com. Born out of LA's Civil Unrest of 1992, the Front Page is committed to providing a platform for the discussion of critical issues from a decidedly black perspective and is hosted by talk radio veteran Dominique DiPrima.

Unapologetically Black, Jasmyne Cannick is known for addressing the issues that others can't or simply won't. At 31, Jasmyne is a critic and commentator based in Los Angeles who writes about the intersection of pop culture, race, class, and politics as played out in the African-American community.  An award-winning journalist who previously worked in the U.S. House of Representative's and California's Legislature as a press secretary, Jasmyne was selected as one of Essence Magazine's 25 Women Shaping the World and is a regular contributor to National Public Radio's "News and Notes."  She currently works as a political consultant in California on local and state campaigns and runs her popular website www.jasmynecannick.com.

Shahrazad Ali is an African-American author, responsible for books such as The Blackman's Guide to Understanding the Blackwoman , Are You Still a Slave? and How Not to Eat Pork (Or Life without the Pig), all of which are heavily influenced by her belief in Faradian Islam and membership in the Nation of Islam, which owns Civilized Publications, the company that publishes her books. She is at the forefront of what scholars call reactionary Black nationalism and has come under heavy criticism for her scholarship and her belief that a man has the right to discipline a woman.  Ali has appeared on many talk shows in the United States, where she defends her beliefs and her controversial books.
