Discuss Strategies for Creating New Jobs and Worker Protection,

 Assemblymember Curren D. Price (D-Inglewood) will hold a major policy round table discussion with business and labor leaders at the California 'ScienCenter' on Friday, March 20 to develop a framework for protecting workers vulnerable industries and forging a regional strategy to promote job growth and mitigate the effects of the state's sustained economic downturn.

Assemblymember Price will be joined at the summit by federal, state and local public policy-makers. Economists, academicians, labor leaders, business executives, and civic leaders will also participate in the Southern California Economic Recovery Summit. Participants will discuss ways in which the state can assist in stimulating economic recovery and create new jobs in the Greater Los Angeles area.

The Southern California Economic Recovery Summit event will take place:Friday, March 20, 9:00a.m. - 3:00p.m. at the California Science Center, 700 State Drive Los Angeles.

"Collectively, we must work together to maximize federal economic stimulus funding and leverage state resources in order to bring new tools and jobs to the people of Los Angeles," said Assemblyman Price. According to the Los Angeles Economic Development Corporation, the Los Angeles County region will continue to experience substantial job losses this year, with an unemployment rate that could reach 10.6 percent by the beginning of next year.

Assemblymember Curren Price serves the 51st Assembly District, which includes Inglewood, Hawthorne, Gardena, Playa Vista, Westchester, Lawndale, West Athens, Lennox, Alondra Park, West Compton, Del Aire, Willowbrook and portions of unincorporated Ladera.
