Spelman Alumni Association of Los Angeles Host Gala Luncheon

On Sunday, March 8, The National Association of Spelman College-Los Angeles Chapter hosted their fifteenth annual gala luncheon honoring two local Spelman College heroes, Avis Ridley-Thomas and  Melissa Kilgore Briley.

Avis Ridley Thomas received the Community Service Award for her work in the area of dispute resolution within the Los Angeles Community and throughout the State of California. 

Melissa Kilgore Briley received the Outstanding Alumni Award.  Mrs. Kilgore Briley graduated from Spelman College in 1942 moved to Los Angeles in 1948 and worked the majority of her career with Los Angeles County in the Department of Social Services.
