Since we came out in record numbers to elect our first Black President Barack Obama, we have not continued such momentum in elections that are equally as significant and close to home.

Tuesday, May 19, is yet another election where we must continue to engage in the political process because our lives depend upon it.

The propositions are critical and we must pass them as the Sentinel has suggested you shall.

Community College board member Angela J. Reddock has already done some outstanding work, as evidenced in the drastic improvements at Southwest College, and she will need your continued support to win Seat No. 2 for the district.

Our friend and Democratic Assemblyman Curren Price will require your vote to move forward an agenda for the 26th Senate seat that is beneficial to our agenda.

The only time when the political process does not work for us is when we don't do what is necessary to make sure that our voice is heard at the ballot box.

This is a vested responsibility that was fought for and that people died for and we should not ever take it for granted.

It is a process that we should be educating our children about as we participate in it so that when their time comes, they will understand the responsibility they will have before them.

Most recent local elections have seen the voter turnout dwindle, but we cannot repeat this trend.

The risk of not voting is greater than it has ever been and in the same respect, the reward is equally as great.

Vote the Sentinel Slate on May 19!
