Inglewood, CA -Public hearings were concluded after lengthy discussions Monday as Inglewood's City Council continued to receive comments and address matters concerning a proposed 238 acre Hollywood Park mixed-use project on the current site of the Hollywood Park Race Track.

Public input was received and ordinances were introduced by the City Council on items concerning a rezoning amendment (PH-5) and the proposed approval of the Specific Plan (PH-6). The Council also received public input regarding Vesting Tentative Tract Map No. 69906. The Council also held hearings and introduced an ordinance concerning the Development Agreement for the Project which will be considered along with other Hollywood Park Project matters on July 8.

"This development will remove many years of blight from the City that has been on the move for quality development with prevailing wage job opportunities for our community. The City Council and staff made a series of detailed analyses with many public hearings and public workshops on the actual product that will enhance the transformation of Hollywood Park once again as a destination site," said Councilman Ralph L. Franklin.

"In addition to the fact that the Hollywood Park project will bring quality retail and businesses that the residents currently frequent in other cities, it is embracing the surrounding communities as a good neighbor. It is a win win for the City of Inglewood, especially given the state of the economy with many America dreams being shattered. Hope has arrived in the City of Inglewood to boost our economy," added Councilman Franklin.

In addition to the City Council session which focused mainly on the Hollywood Park Project, a joint session was held between the Council and the Inglewood Redevelopment Agency which adopted resolutions pertaining to CEQA findings and the approval of proposed amendments.

Additional public hearings were held by the Inglewood Redevelopment Agency alone which included public comments regarding the approval of an Owner Participation Agreement (OPA) which was requested by the Hollywood Park Land Company, LLC as part of its redevelopment of Hollywood Park Racetrack and Casino property as a new master planned mixed-use community.

The Council is expected to address a number of remaining issues concerning the Hollywood Park project at a meeting on July 8 at City Hall.

The meetings are open to the public.
