The church is the primary institution empowered by God to carry forward the work of the Great Commission until the ultimate return of Christ.
The conversation on stewardship and giving has been a marginal one for far too long. It's time to shift the conversation from, "What do we have to cut to survive?" to "What does God want us to do next?"
If our churches continue to be silent in the area of biblical stewardship - our time, talent, and treasures - the number of volunteers, the lay leadership, and the giving levels needed to operate and grow a complex organization such as the church will cease to exist.
As the rate of nonprofits continues to outpace the creation and development of new churches, there are more people than ever competing for the dollars of the people in our pews. Will the babies that pastors dedicate today be able to worship in the same church under the same name in fifteen years?
To continue kingdom building, pastors, church leaders and the community must build a more sustainable funding model to ensure that we carry forward the ministry of Christ until His ultimate return.
