Millennium Momentum Foundation, Inc. announced today that its National Spokesperson and Actress Tatyana Ali, will be joined by Southern California civic leaders, corporate partners, and supporters to launch the organization's National City of Opportunity Initiative at an exclusive location in Hollywood Hills on Saturday, August 22, 2009. This leadership development promotional campaign, is presented by Millennium Momentum Foundation, Inc., in a national public-private partnership with local cities and corporations across the United States to engage collegiate institutions, high schools, and community-based organizations to promote leadership development training, mentoring, volunteerism, and job opportunities to benefit those graduating high school seniors, aspiring college students, and current college students specifically seeking to reinvest in their local cities through careers in public policy and other public service fields. Some of the organization's leading supporters and partners in the Southern California region include, but are not limited to the American Society for Public Administration (ASPA), Union Bank, City Club on Bunker Hill, UPS, Los Angeles World Airports, City of Los Angeles, City of Compton, City of Carson, City of Inglewood, City of Manhattan Beach, City of Lawndale, Cal State University, Dominguez Hills, USC, Loyola Marymount University, UCLA, Pepperdine University, and many others.

Fueled by recent studies revealing that the Baby-Boomer generation in today's workplace will soon be retiring across the United States, the National City of Opportunity Initiative positions cities across the United States to ensure that systemic efforts are in place to train, mentor, and employ the next generation of employees that will reinvest their education and practical skills in local cities as future nonprofit organization administrators, public policy officials, government employees, corporate public affairs & community relations executives, social service providers, and more. "The private sector and public sector must unite, under one common objective, and that is to harness the energy, education, and practical skills of our young people in cities around the nation, and position them to systemically improve the quality of life in their communities", said Jason L. Seward, Founder and CEO of Millennium Momentum Foundation, Inc.

Paramount among the core objectives of the initiative is to train high school seniors, aspiring college students, and current college students annually in each targeted city in the area of practical skills needed to seek, secure, retain, and advance within, employment in public policy and other public service fields; secure peer and professional mentors to develop short-term and long-term professional development needs of future leaders in each city; recruit professional trainers in each city to contribute their experience to helping improve the leadership and employability skills of high school seniors and college students; and to secure internships and jobs for those deserving high school seniors and college students positioning to enter today's competitive workforce.

This national leadership development campaign is carried out through services rendered in the State-of-the-Art Millennium Momentum Foundation Leadership Development Institute, which is a 6-month leadership training program that aims to increase the understanding and knowledge of high school seniors, aspiring college students, and current college students in the area of practical skills needed to seek, secure, retain, and advance within, employment in public service fields. Millennium Momentum Foundation, Inc. has piloted the City of Opportunity Initiative through its institute by targeting various segments of Greater Los Angeles with notable results including, but not limited to East Los Angeles, Watts, the Crenshaw District, and South and East Los Angeles housing developments through the Housing Authority of the City of Los Angeles. The Southern California City of Opportunity Initiative will be targeting Greater Los Angeles, South Bay Cities, and Gateway Cities for its inaugural Fall Track set to begin in September of 2009 on the campus of California State Dominguez Hills, located in Carson, California. Congressmember Maxine Waters and California State University Dominguez Hills President Mildred Garcia, serve as the Southern California Institute's Honorary Co-Chairs.
