Juliette Fairley performs The Mulatto Series

Juliette Fairley performs her hit show The Mulatto Series on Friday August 21 at 7:30pm and Saturday August 22 at 3pm at Sunset Gardner Stages in a sneak preview that is meant to promote her upcoming performance in Celebrity Back to School Drive and the Beverly Hills Hollywood NAACP Theatre Festival. There will be free bottles of the Bradford Tonic island drink available at the reception following the performance.

Miss Fairley, who is a film and theatre actress, was recently tapped to play the role of therapist in a feature film directed by Cinque Lee, who is Spike Lee's youngest brother. Written and performed by Fairley, The Mulatto Series is two shows in one. Sunset Gardner Stage #3 is located at 1501 N. Gardner Street at Sunset Blvd.

A one woman show, Mulatto's Dilemma chronicles the adventures of a bi-racial woman living in the 1920s and her indecision as to whether to marry a black man or white man.

The sequel, The Making of a Mulatto, presents issues relevant to interracial marriages and their children by juxtaposing the Jim Crow South in America with the Nazi regime in France.

Like President Barack Obama, Juliette's mother is white and her father is African American. She wrote the two shows to give the audience a peek into how having parents of different races influences an adult child's psychology and perspective on the world.

"Many bi-racial people are caught in between two worlds, tormented by allegiances to both the black community and the larger white society. My show explores these issues," said Miss Fairley.
