Ramadan and Convention together at last! As anticipated, this year's Annual Muslim Convention, sponsored by The Mosque Cares will coincide with the blessed month of Ramadan. Many are excited to welcome the spiritual enlightenment and purification that the holy month will offer to the Convention weekend. __ As this up coming Muslim Convention/Ramadan Session will be the first since the passing of our leader, Imam W. Deen Mohammed, careful consideration will go into the final formatting of the Ramadan Session Topics and presentations. While there was only one Imam W. Deen Mohammed, the goal is to continue studies of Islam by utilizing the students and leaders nationwide in the extensive study of the Holy Qur'an and Sunnah of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (SAW), and with an understanding of the Tafsir of Imam Mohammed.__ The Team is excited to announce a special viewing of acclaimed PBS documentary - New Muslim Cool www.newmuslimcool.com will be held during the weekend; a coming of age story about the spiritual journey of a Muslim American amidst the backdrop of a distinctive urban culture and an awakening political climate. __Community Life Workshops and networking events will commence Thursday. Also scheduled is a Muslim Networking event hosted by The Niyah Company. Marital programming for the weekend will include planning by Muslim American Research Institute Advocating Marriage (M.A.R.I.A.M.) and Muslims for Marriage www.Muslimsformarriage.net Numerous vendors will make their wares available at the New Africa Marketplace.

Be a part of documented history, the Honorable Elijah Muhammad Commemorative Center (HEMCC) will be prepared to document the stories of pioneers who served with The Hon. Elijah Muhammad and Imam Mohammed, in addition to other community members making history.

During the weekend, artistic, educational and fun activities for children ages 5-11 will be included in the "Learn and Play" day programming. Exciting, interactive Youth & Teen Activities will be geared to ages 12-17 and held throughout the weekend, facilitated by Hanif and Baiyina Khalil of Kamp Khalil www.kampkhalil.com.__The Ramadan Session Topics will commence after Friday's Jummu'ah (Sermon) prayer. Confirmed Khatib (presenter) for Jumm'uah is Imam Saafir Rabb II of Baltimore, MD. Muslim American Logic Institute (M.A.L.I.) will hold a Qur'anic Language Symopisum. For years, Imam W. Deen Mohammed and W.D.M. Ministry sent numerous delegations of students to Malaysia and Abu Nour Institute in Syria for Islamic, cultural and educational exchanges and enhancements. A special Iftar dinner presentation will be made by these WDM Abroad Students on the value brought from these experiences and current progression being made in the community. __In addition to the Ramadan Session and Community Life Workshops, Saturday will also feature a Community Iftar dinner highlighting distinguished efforts, guests and achievements. Members of the recent 2008 Delegation to Italy who represented the Muslim American Community at the Focolare Movement's "Muslims and Christians in Universal Brotherhood" will present during the weekend. In addition, members of the 2009 Delegation to Turkey will also present during the weekend.

Speakers for Sunday's Public Address include Imam Qasim Ahmed of Dover, FL, Imam Rahman Khan of Charlotte, NC and Dr. Fatimah Fanusie of Washington, DC. Additional speakers will be announced in upcoming issues. Imam Leadership and Regional Conveners, CMS Education Consortium, CPC and other special interest groups from the Muslim community are being invited to present during the Convention as well.
