First AME Church 5^th Annual Back to School Giveaway Hugh Success

First AME Church (FAME) was pleased to host the 5^th Annual Back to School Giveaway on Saturday September 12, at FAME Renaissance Corporation. Over 5,00 parents and children lined the streets and many waited the night before to secure a spot in line. First AME Church gave away backpacks filled with school supplies, shoes, clothing and many more basic items that children need to succeed in their education. In addition to school supplies, First AME Church also gave away computers, bicycles, calculators and other fun items. Community leaders such as Rev. Leonard Jackson and Councilman Bernard Parks also participated in the giveaway.

“Every child has the right to the best education that we can provide and First AME Church is committed to making that happen. The Back to School Giveaway provided hundreds of students with the proper supplies needed to progress in their educational
pursuits and make their dreams come true.” Said Pastor John Hunter. The First AME Church family, as well as direct contributions from corporations and local businesses donated many of the giveaway items. In addition, various community organizations set up informational booths with giveaways for families that made their way to the main event.
