September 2009 Annual Breakfast  

"As we begin a new Chapter Year, Sorors of the Los Angeles Alumnae Chapter gathered to prepare and re-energize their hearts and minds for the public service initiatives and projects of the Los Angeles Alumnae Chapter at the Annual September Breakfast held on Saturday, September 12, at the Proud Bird Restaurant," a spokesperson said.

"We are please to enjoy the sisterhood, fellowship, and joyous singing of Sorors led by the Delta Choraliers under the direction of Soror Danellen Joseph in one of our wonderful spirited songs entitled "Have You Heard About the Delta's" with the solo by Dr. Harriette F. Williams," a spokesperson said.

There were over 240 Delta's in attendance along with thirty new, returning and visiting Sorors. 

The Los Angeles Alumnae Chapter is under the leadership of President Essie Jeffries, the 38th President who gave an inspiring address of rededication and service and stating that Love and Faith is the key to effective change. Soror Sharee Sanders, Esq., the First Vice President gave an informative report of the Farwest Regional Conference held in July 2009 in Anchorage Alaska.

Three Sorors from the Los Angeles Alumnae Chapter were elected to Regional offices.

They were Soror Miyana Pace, Chair of the Regional Nomination Committee; Soror Angelique Sims, member of the National Nominating Committee, and Soror Mary Fletcher, member of the Regional Nominating Committee.  Congratulations were extended to these Sorors. 

Awards were given to the Chairperson of the Year and to the Delta of the Year.

These Sorors have gone beyond the call of duty in public service and service to Delta Sigma Theta Sorority.

These beautiful commemorative plaques were presented by Second Vice President, Mary Fletcher to Dr. Tenika Jackson, Chair of Social Action and Soror Jacquelyn Snead, Past President of DST as the Delta of the Year - this Soror had the highest number of community service hours for the preceding year.  A new feature was also established this year.

The President's Award,  which was presented to three Sorors  - Soror Billie Smith, Soror Aisha Corneal, and Dr. Jean Adenika.

Another highlight was the presentation of commemorative plaques to newly retired Sorors Yvonne Bragg, Tonya Richardson, Loretta Malone, and Patricia Foster.     Pictured is the September Breakfast Committee led by Soror Helen Hobbs, Chair and her committee.

They are commended for their planning and implementation of a successful event.
