It's a new day at 93.5 KDAY
As a new Management Team is announced in the L.A. Metro
Exciting things are taking place at 93.5 KDAY-FM, Los Angeles' Rhythmic AC radio station, as a new management team has been unveiled.
On September 15, 2009 KDAY welcomed Zeke Chaidez as General Manager.
Prior to joining KDAY, Chaidez was the COO of Heftel Media. He has also held positions as: VP of Business Operations for Club Deportivo Chivas USA. The Executive VP/General Manager of Radiovisa AM830, a Spanish language talk radio network, one of the first in the country. General Sales Manager for KSCA/ Univision Radio (formerly the Hispanic Broadcasting Corp.) the number one Spanish Language revenue generating station in Los Angeles.
I am excited to be involved in a format that is as fun and as relevant to this city. I was born and raised in Los Angeles and am very familiar with the KDAY heritage and am looking forward to the re-birth of KDAY. The station is off to a great start and will be even more incredible once the team puts their signature to each of their departments, said Chaidez.
Within his first week, Chaidez merged KDAY's LA and Riverside signals into a syncro-cast, creating a Los Angeles based superstation covering LA and the Inland Empire. Chaidez's next move was to put together a team of the most seasoned and proven professionals in Los Angeles Radio.
First to join the team was Derek Beesemyer as KDAY's General Sales Manager.
Beesemyer joins 93.5 KDAY from ABC Radio/Los Angeles (KSPN and KLOS). Under his management, he increased local billing to $28 million. Then promoted to General Sales Manager at KSPN where he oversaw revenue increase in excess of 11% per year. Prior to that, Beesemyer worked as GSM for KWHY-TV/BizNews 1 Los Angeles. He served as both NSM and LSM at KLSX/KRLA.
Programming veteran Brian Bridgman was next to join as Operations Manager.
Bridgman joins 93.5 KDAY after eleven years with Clear Channel Broadcasting, holding the Program Director's positions at WIOQ/Philadelphia, KHKS/Dallas and most recently KKRZ/Portland. He has also served as Music Director at cross-town CHR KIIS-FM in the early 90's.
This is a tremendous opportunity. K-DAY was at the forefront of the Hip Hop movement for the West Coast in the late 80's. The excitement level from the audience has been incredible. I look forward to working closely with GM Zeke Chaidez and PD Adrian Scott to maximize our unique brand in Southern California, said Bridgman.
Southern California native, Jason Wagers, has been named Marketing Director.
Wagers has been a staple in So. Cal's radio industry since 1993. Wagers started his career at KPWR as Asst. Promotion Director. Jason relocated to San Diego where he held the positions of Marketing Manager and Asst. Program Director for XHTZ-FM.
Rounding out the team is Sascha Schleumer, Director of Information Technology. Schleumer was previously the Director of Information Technology at AM830/KMXE, Radiovisa, and Stickman Entertainment. He began his radio career as a Network Engineer for Premiere Radio Networks.
I'm very excited about the team we've put together. They have over 100 years combined experience in radio. We plan on providing quality service with a quality product. Lots of exciting things are about to happen at KDAY stay tuned! exclaimed Chaidez.
