A dual salute to fathers and college graduates is set for Sunday, June 17, at Bethel Missionary Baptist Church, 10905 South Compton Avenue in Los Angeles.
According to Pastor Reginald A. Pope, activities begin at 9:30 a.m., with ‘Bread for the Bread Winners.' "All fathers will be served breakfast, coordinated by Mother Stella Martin, Sister Bertha Sweet and the mothers of Bethel, in recognition of all that they do for the families.
"During the 11 a.m. service, we will hold ‘Comments from the Collegians' with a panel of our students and graduates sharing observations on their challenges and achievements in college," said Dr. Pope.
Also, Bethel's Earnest Killum, Jr. Scholarship Fund and the congregation will present love gifts to all graduates of each level of school. Pastor Pope's sermon will focus on maintaining balance between family, church and school.
Vacation Bible School, directed by Sister Dixie Brown, starts Monday, June 25, through Friday, June 29, from 8:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. Classes for youth and adults will include Bible Study, crafts, recreation and lunch. Free transportation is available for the immediate surrounding areas.
