Crenshaw UMC & SOS Hold Affordable Housing Workshop

Crenshaw United Methodist Church (UMC), in association with Save Our Sons Prison/Justice Ministry (SOS), will sponsor ‘A Roof For Momma: Affordable Housing Celebration' on Sunday, June 17, at 3740 Don Felipe Drive in Los Angeles.

During the church's worship at 11 a.m., certificates of appreciation will be awarded to community leaders who have advocated for affordable housing. At 1:30 p.m., SOS will begin one hour earlier to present a panel of housing professionals led by the Rev. Leonardo Wilborn, pastor of Crenshaw UMC.

The discussion will outline current opportunities and requirements to successfully obtain housing. The topics will cover correctly completing applications, the interview process, fair housing laws, making a good impression and how to provide only the necessary information (what not to say) to be placed in a home.

Guests will include representatives from the Housing Authority of the City of Los Angeles, Housing Authority of the County of Los Angeles, Veterans Administration Supportive Housing, Volunteers of America Los Angeles, Apartment Association of Greater Los Angeles, and Apartment Association of
California Southern Cities.
