Delta Kappaâ€™s Xinos and Kudos Take All
The National Sorority of Phi Delta Kappa, Inc., Delta Kappa Chapter Xinos and Kudos of Inglewood, California were big winners at the 44th Far Western Regional Xinos and Kudos Conference hosted by Beta Theta Chapter of Los Angeles.The conference was held at the Holiday Inn, Los Angeles Airport. Youth from Los Angeles, Inglewood, Compton, San Francisco, Pasadena, and San Diego took part in the three day conference competing in oratorical presentations, skits, talent, best activity book and for the most prestigious award, "Chapter of the Year." They also attended self-improvement and academic workshops. The competitions among the represented chapters for hellos and the talent skit competition were presented the first night of the conference. The skit was based on the theme of the conference, "Those Who Wish to Achieve Must Believe: I Have Control of My Own Destiny." Delta Kappa Xinos (Davonna Moore, Kendra Singleton, Monyia Singleton, Antwanette Williams), and Kudos (Danial Ceasar and John Moore III). Each group won 2nd Place for their skit presentations on the theme. Saturday activities consisted of the oratorical contest which was also based on the theme. The winners of the essay competitions were announced at the luncheon by Velma Brown, National Youth Advisor and Hattie McFrazier, Regional Kudos Advisor. Xinos Monyia Singleton won 3rd Place and Kudos Danial Ceasar won 1st Place. Delta Kappa's Xinos and Kudos were first time attendees at the Youth Conference which is held annually.After all ballots/tallies for winners were computed, Delta Kappa youth came out on top. The Xinos won 1st Place for Chapter of the Year, 1st Place for Best Activity Book, and 2rd Place for Best Skit. The Kudos won 1st Place for Chapter of the Year, 1st Place for Best Activity Book, and 2nd Place for Best Skit.Delta Kappa Xinos and Kudos are under the leadership of Deborah Callahan, Xinos Advisor and Shirley Hunter, Kudos Advisor. It is for high school young ladies and men, who have maintained at least a C average, good moral character, and interested in public service.
