The celebration of the life of Mrs. Edna M. Wilson was celebrated on May 24, at the Figueroa Church of Christ. Mrs. Wilson was the wife the late Clint C. Wilson Sr., Sentinel cartoonist for 48 years.

Dr. Calvin H. Bowers, minister of Figueroa Church of Christ, eulogized his member of more than 60 years. Other participants included Kevin Murray, minister of Alondra Church of Christ; Barbara Lockert, Charlene Sheppard, Dr. Carl Baccus, minister of Southside Church of Christ; Raymond Griffin, Clarisa Howard and others.

Mrs. Wilson, born July 4, 1919 to Sam and Amanda Lee in New Iberia, La., succumbed on May 16. Her only sibling, a sister, Selina Lee, two years older than she, preceded her in death in 1992.

After moving to Houston, Texas, she graduated from Phyllis Wheatley High School. In Houston, she was baptized when she met evangelist R.N. Hogan and began her lifelong relationship with best friend Bethel Smith

In the 1940s she relocated to Los Angeles and attended the church at 43rd and McKinley, where Hogan had established a congregation. She met Clint C. Wilson Sr. and his toddler son, Clint II at this congregation, and they were married in October 1948. Their marriage spanned 57 years until his death in 2005.

Mrs. Wilson was a very talented seamstress, she dedicated her life and expertise with the needle to the church and its activities. When the church relocated to its present edifice on Figueroa, she made uniforms for the various groups. She was the resident professional choral designer for the Little Angels/Angelic and Girls' Glees youth choruses. She also made beautiful wedding and bridesmaids dresses and personal items for young ladies she befriended.

She was a member of the Figueroa Radio Chorus for more than 40 years. Mrs. Wilson also served her church as a Sunday School teacher and counselor to the youth. Her dedication in education, found her working beyond the call of duty for Southwestern Christian College in Terrell, Texas. She was a primary coordinator of Women at Work's Annual National Dinner Day fundraiser for almost 40 years, and was a major supporter and contributor of Christian education.

Mrs. Wilson will be forever remembered by son, Clint (Mary) Wilson II; Clint Wilson III, grandson; endeared friend and daughter-in-law, Clarisa Howard; and many other relatives and friends which include Raymond and Maybelline Griffin, their children, grandchildren and church family.

Angelus Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements., interment in Inglewood Park Cemetery.
