George Washington was born December 14, 1925 in Scott, Arkansas. He served in the Korean Conflict where he received the Bronze Medal of Honor, and the Vietnam Conflict.
George moved to Los Angeles in 1946. After 20 years he retired from the United States Post Office and ventured full-time into a real estate career. He subsequently became a realtor, employing several agents more than 38 years. He was an active member of the Southwest Board of Realtors.
Known for his humor, George frequently visited family and friends who were sick or shut-in, always using his natural witty ability to cheer them.
As a young child, George developed a strong faith in the Almighty God. He often told of the special place he would go in the field near his home to pray and to ask God for His help. God was wonderfully faithful to answer many of those prayers and to answer many subsequent petitions he would make. When asked how he was doing, his favorite affirmation to everyone who asked was, "God is good to me, I can't complain."
George was a member of the Trinity Baptist Church of Los Angeles since l968 where he remained faithful until his homegoing on April 29, 2010.
Memorial services were held May 6, 2010 at Trinity B.C., Rev. Alvin Tunstill, Jr. officiated.
George will be greatly missed. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, son, daughter-in-law, three grandchildren, Mother-in-law, five brothers, three sisters, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
