Los Angeles, CA — Congresswoman Diane E. Watson (D-California) presents a $5,000 scholarship to Margo Batie, a recent Crenshaw High School graduate. Margo was the class of 2010 Salutatorian, earning a 4.0 plus grade point average. Ms. Batie currently attends the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (M.I.T.).
The scholarship was provided by Mr. Russell Lee, Founder and Mr. Ken Crawford, President of The Hero Appreciation Network, a scholarship fund developed in recognition of the brave men and women who have made the ultimate sacrifice to guarantee the freedom, safety and security of all Americans.
Margo Batie accepted the award honoring the life of fallen Officer Robert James Cottle, L.A.P.D. and a Memorial Certificate that stated, "I pledge to be the best citizen I can be, to make the most of the opportunity afforded me, to honor the memory of a hero and to make proud the family of the loved one I have chosen to represent. This
