A free seminar on new treatment for acid reflux disease will be held Monday, February 21, at 5:30 p.m.  at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center Thalians Auditorium, 8730 Alden Dr., Los Angeles, CA 90048. Validated parking is available in Lot #2 - Across the street from the Thalians Building

Transoral incisionless fundoplication, (TIF), a new, entirely incision-free procedure is now available for treating severe acid reflux disease. This surgery treats the underlying anatomical cause of acid reflux disease through an entirely incisionless procedure that repairs the body's natural barrier to reflux. A device is passed through the mouth to the stomach and is used to repair the valve that is allowing stomach acid to pass into the esophagus, causing the reflux disease.

Miguel Burch, M.D., associate director of general surgery and minimally invasive surgery at Cedars-Sinai, will lead this presentation and take questions. He is among the most experienced surgeons in the nation in this procedure, which is known as transoral incisionless fundoplication, or TIF.
