The on-campus sports complex will include a new softball field (with new bases, dugouts, pitching mound, batting cage and hooded backstop); home-side stadium with more than 2,000 seats; new football goal posts, scoreboard and flagpole; fitness center; stadium lighting; chair lift to press box; and irrigation system at athletic field.  The project, with a budget of $5.3 million is be funded by School Bond measures K and Y and California state-matching funds.

"We are excited and grateful to the people of Los Angeles, our School District, and our Board Member, Marguerite Poindexter LaMotte for helping us reach this milestone," said Dr. Todd Ullah, Principal, Washington Preparatory High School.  "The addition the new sports complex, will bring us a giant step forward toward being recognized as a world class school for academics and athletics." 

The Washington Preparatory High School academic program features three magnet programs and several small learning communities.  With more than 1900 students, the four-year high school's program is designed to prepare students to meet the challenges of a global economy.
