Many Holy Week observances are planned at several churches and ministries in the greater Los Angeles-area. The services highlight Palm Sunday focusing on Christ's triumphant entry into Jerusalem, the Seven Last Words emphasizing His last sayings from the cross, and Easter Sunday celebrating His resurrection from the grave and victory over death. The public is invited to attend all events.

Bethel A.M.E. Church
Bishop T. Larry Kirkland Sr. will preach at 7:45 a.m., on Palm Sunday, April 17, at Bethel A.M.E. Church, 7900 Western Avenue in Los Angeles.

"All those seeking a revived spirit, sound doctrine and scriptural insight as to the importance of this day in Christendom should attend to hear word of God delivered with power by Bishop Kirkland," said Pastor Kelvin T. Calloway.

The presiding prelate of the 5th Episcopal District of the A.M.E. Church, Bishop Kirkland also serves as president of the denomination's General Board. His 40-year ministry includes two decades as pastor of Brookins Community A.M.E. Church, author of several books on church growth, and well-known media consultant on religious issues.

Brookins Community A.M.E. Church
The feast of Maundy Thursday is set for April 21, at 7 p.m., at 4831 South Gramercy Place in Los Angeles. "Join us in communion as we commemorate the Last Supper of Jesus Christ with the Apostles," said Pastor C. Dennis Williams.

Church of the Transfiguration

Seven masses will be held under the leadership of Rev. Michael Tang at 2515 West Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard in Los Angeles. The Mass of the Lord's Supper will be on Holy Thursday, April 21, at 7 p.m. On Good Friday, April 22, the Celebration of The Lord's Passion will be at 1:30 p.m. and the Stations of the Cross presented at 6:30 p.m.

Church One
‘They Didn't Know,' a Music and Arts Easter Production, will be presented on Friday, April 22, at 7 p.m., in the sanctuary at 700 East 70th Street in Long Beach, announced Bishop W. Todd Ervin, pastor. The event will feature the choirs and dance ministries of Church One including Singers of Warfare, One Praize Youth &Young Adult Choir, One Voice Children's Ensemble, Anointed Praise and Praise in Motion Dance ministries.

Congregational Church of Christian Fellowship
Pastor James K. McKnight will preach on Palm Sunday, April 17, at 8 a.m. and 11 a.m., at 2085 South Hobart Boulevard in Los Angeles.

Grant A.M.E. Church - Los Angeles
Seniors of the church and community will be honored during the ‘Three Score and Ten' celebration on Palm Sunday, April 17, at 11 a.m., at 10135 South Central Avenue in Los Angeles.

Rev. Dr. Vernon S. Burroughs added, "On Resurrection Sunday, we will celebrate at our 6 a.m. Sunrise Worship and Praise with Grant's Mass Choir rendering selections. Liberty Baptist Church
The Cross-Culture service, aimed at young adults, debuts on Easter Sunday, April 24, at 12:30 p.m., announced Rev. Terry L. Brown Sr., who pastors the congregation at 1500 West 51st Place in Los Angeles.

National Evangelist Manuel Scott
The itinerary of Evangelist Scott includes preaching on Palm Sunday, April 17, at 10:30 a.m., at Trinity Baptist Church, 2040 West Jefferson Boulevard in Los Angeles. Rev. Alvin Tunstill is pastor. Zoe Christian Fellowship - Los Angeles

Bishop Frank Stewart will host the Seven Last Words of Jesus at 12 noon on Good Friday, April 22, at 5315 West Adams Boulevard in Los Angeles.
