Darryl James, LA Sentinel columnist and award-winning author is opening his new stage play "Love in a Day" on Mother's Day Weekend, with a special Mother's Day Performance on Sunday, May 8th, 2011.

"Love in a Day," is a story of love in the age of troubled relationships, tackling the most salient issues affecting relationships in the new millennium, including HIV, unequally yoked professions, interracial love and the Down Low scare.

Each couple in the play is seeking to rebuild their relationship, dealing with a specific difficulty that is easy for the others to see, but not so easy to look at in a mirror. On a relationship retreat lead by a relationship coach and his assistant, each couple works through their difficulties to find love. The atmosphere, the discussion and the vibes spark chemistry as each person falls in Love in a Day.

"Love In A Day" features a cast of working actors who have been featured in commercials, television shows and other stage plays. "Love In A Day" stars Dingani Beza, winner of Outstanding Lead Male in a Drama Series at the LA Web Festival in Los Angeles for his role in the web series "Asylum."

"Asylum" was an official selection of the NYTVF (New York Television Festival), the Anaheim International film festival, and winner of the LA web festival.

The Mother's Day showing of the play will feature a special Intermission performance by saxophonist Mekiel Reuben, whose explosive saxophone style has been compared to the likes of Grover Washington Jr. and John Klemmer.

Reuben is featured once each month at 94.7 The Wave's Sunday Bruch at i.Cugini's Italian Seafood Restaurant in Long Beach.

Darryl James is an award-winning author ("LA Riots...Revolution"), lecturer, syndicated columnist and the publisher of Tenacious Books, a boutique publishing house for self-publishing authors. James has lectured for the National Council of Negro Women, the National Urban League, The Black American Law Students Association (BALSA) and the NAACP, in addition to radio stations, colleges and universities across the nation.

James helped to define Rap Music Journalism as a writer for The Source and went on to launch the second largest Rap Music publication, Rap Sheet. His nationally syndicated column, "The Bridge" deals with issues ranging from relationships to politics and from entertainment to the "isms" (racism, classism and sexism).  As a relationship coach, James has provided relationship insight for Ebony Magazine, the NAACP, the National Urban League and the National Council of Negro Women.

The Mother's Day showing will include a special music and conscious comedy show during intermission, as well as wine and light snacks and flowers for mothers.

The production is also creating fundraising opportunities for community organizations.
