"When the stakeholders told me what it would take to renovate this facility, I promised that we would get it done. We were able to find the funds and we got the job done. This is a great example of a successful partnership with the community."The facility was closed for months while work moved forward. Improvements included resurfacing the concrete, installing new lighting and new netting, new wind screens, and repainting the surface blue and green, the colors of the U.S. Tennis Association. The funding was provided through state Proposition 40, and Community Development Block Grants."We want our community sports facilities to be first rate, and that's exactly what the Arthur Ashe Tennis Center is today," said Wesson.
