United Gospel Outreach (UGO) was formed following the Watts Riot of 1965 to reach non-church attending African Americans in the streets and parks of south Los Angeles with the gospel. This fruitful venture, founded by Rev. Joseph Curtiss, has now expanded into a global ministry.
"As part of our inner-city outreach, UGO offers Spanish language acquisition classes. The instructor is Rev. John Edwards, pastor of New Zion Chapel, who generates both excitement and learning during these inspiring sessions," said Rev. Curtiss.
"Rev. Edwards teaches Castilian Spanish throughout the city in several churches and schools. Learning to communicate in Spanish has become of epidemic importance," he said.
The next 10-week day class session will be presented from September 21 to November 23. The sessions will be held at United Gospel Outreach, 7229 South Main Street in Los Angeles. UGO is located next to Word of life Christian Bookstore, at the southwest corner of Florence Avenue and Main Street.
Rev. Curtiss advised, "Plan now to sign up for the next session and equip yourself for the changing need to better communicate in the Spanish community."
