Pastor Carolyn Baskin-Bell
In June 2006, four people took a risk and stepped out on faith in response to the Great Commission, ‘Go and make disciples of all nations...' (Matthew 28:19). Now five years later, "We observe the divine hand of God responding through the faithfulness demonstrated to a faithful people," said Rev. Carolyn Baskin-Bell, founder and pastor of Rose of Sharon A.M.E. Church.
The worship celebration will be on Sunday, June 26, at 3:30 p.m., at the Saints of Value Center, 12110 Firestone Boulevard in Norwalk. Pastor Baskin-Bell said, "The celebration will be blessed with the preached word delivered by the Rev. Dr. Clyde Oden, pastor of Bryant Temple A.M.E. Church of Los Angeles.
"The guest Psalmist will be Minister Tony Davis of Walking By Faith Christian Fellowship. Also, Rev. Joyce Kitchen and the Emmanuel Turner Choir and Rev. L. Fisher Hines and the Grant Long Beach Choir are among the special guests to share in this momentous occasion."
According to Sis. Billie Vincent, co-chair of the anniversary celebration, Rose of Sharon is developing into a safe haven for individuals seeking the redemptive saving power of Jesus through the Word of God and prayer. "We praise God for the prayers and support of our Presiding Prelate, Bishop T. Larry Kirkland and Presiding Elder Roosevelt Lindsey. The Southern California Conference has also assisted in nurturing and developing our church," she commented.
"We anticipate a spirit-filled worship celebration and invite the entire community to come and experience the sweet fragrance of Jesus Christ at the Rose of Sharon," added Brother Donald Watkins, Anniversary co-chair.
"Your prayers and presence are requested as we ‘Witness and Work to Expand the Gospel of Jesus Christ,'" he said.
