I'm always writing about how I feel about issues without fear of popular opinion, I just try and said what I think is right. So I want to share a personal issue I have been dealing with for the past three years. You know it's easy to pontificate week after week on what you would do if, or how someone else is doing this, that or the other. Like most people I always believed I'd rather see a sermon then hear one any day, so alone me to show you my message in standing on principle.

Three years ago I was served papers notifying me that I was being sued for one-million dollars for assault and sexual harassment. At first I was devastated, I had never been accused of anything like that and I certainly had never been sued before so that was deep. When I shared the news with many of my friends and family, almost all of them said the same thing, "All she wants is some money, just see how much and paid it". I though this #@^* is strange, the first question from everybody was always the same, "how much does she want, followed by just paid her". Among most of my friends none of them and I do mean none of themes first question was, what did you do, what happened or did you do it"?

Only after 10-20 minutes of conversation and stories of people they knew that faced seemlier issues did anyone ask me, "Did you do it?" And after telling my side of the story, they went back to, just pay the girl or saying it easier just to give her some money because that's all people want anyway this is what they call a new cents lawsuit. For those of you that don't know what that means is, you find a skum bag lawyer, generally seemlier to the plaintiff and you conger up a story and you sued them. In most cases the defendant will just pay a small amount of money (20-50 thousand dollars) to make it go away. Not me.

So after listening to all of this $#@&, I would say to them, "But I didn't do anything" and the answer I got back was always the same, "Tony look, it's just cheaper to paid and move on with your life, hell even if you win its going to cost you more money to win, so save some money and just give them a little money. That's the problem now, not only in what I'm dealing with, but in life, damn doing what's right, let's just take the path of least resistance. I remember hearing someone say, "The only way for evil to exist is that good people remain silent," or in my case pay.

So earlier this year we took it to court, and for the first time in my life, for five-days I got to see the judicial process first hand. You know what was deep to me, every morning before going into the court room her attorney would asks my attorney, "Can we talk for a minute." And every morning he would ask my attorney can we settle this thing? And every day my answer was the same, "You wanted to do this, let's do it" and I would walk in the court room. I watched this guy go from one million dollars to, seventy five thousand, to fifty thousand. Well after they put on five-day of testimony, witness (none of watch proved that I did anything) and the reading of different depositions and closing arguments the jury deliberated. As i said, I got to see up close and personal just how crazy people can get in the pursuit of cash.

Well after a day of deliberation the jury came back with a reward to her for the sum of nothing, not one crying dime. This guy's closing argument went on for a hold day; he walked the juries through the last five days and summed it all up by asking that the doctors that took her case be paid for treating her injuries. Oh.... did I tell you the doctors only took her as a patient after she signed a notes' that if she won, she would give them some money? And did I tell you that none of the doctors who saw and treated her for her hand injury and mental stress showed up in court to testify to her injuries. And here's the thing that is so deep, both doctors that treated her were referrals of her attorney. Now you know damn well these guys were going to fine something, right.

Well I didn't get to celebrate because there was a, technicality it seems in the verdict. The jury felt that even though there was no proof of sexual harassment or battery, they felt the doctors should be given something for their time. So the awarded twenty thousand dollar to the doctors which I think is BS but what you gone do right. So her lawyer ask the judge' if the doctors are getting something, why is it his client isn't getting something"? So here we go again, he calls my lawyer and asks for twenty thousand dollar to make it all go away or we do it all over again.

Well guess what. I got a fool for an attorney, me. I'm not hiring a lawyer and I'm heading back to court next week standing on principle. If this chump can go from asking me for one million dollars to twenty thousand, I sure as hell am willing to fight him on my own in court or any place else. And believe me; I'm saying any of this to declare my innocents to you, but to ask you a question, when will you stand on principle. Sure, it would have cost me far less in money and time just to have given them some money, for it to go away, but what about the next time and the next person. And what type of signal are we sending society and the world when we just roll over and give evil and opening just because it easier or cheaper.

People do what they do because no one is willing to say, stop it or the hell with that I'm not going out like that. We can't continue to sit back and allow the inmates to take over the aucylum.
