Aiming to fulfill its mission of bringing people back to God, the Disciples on the Move Ministry will present its 14th Annual Gospel Crusade Rally at Venice Beach in Los Angeles.
The all-day event, set for Saturday, August 20, at 11 a.m., is designed to share the good news about Jesus Christ with non-believers, homeless individuals, and people experiencing emotional hurt and pain.
"The purpose of this free event is to save the lost through witnessing and outreach. We are primarily a ministry of prayer intercession," said Joann Daughtry, event organizer and founder of Disciples on the Move.
"At the rally, we gather at the intersection of Pacific and Windward Streets in Venice to minister on stage with choirs, gospel artists, great bands, dynamic speakers, and inspiring testimonies. As a result, many get saved, delivered, baptized in water, and filled with the Holy Ghost. Each year, usually there are approximately 350 souls saved that day," said Daughtry.
"We bus in the homeless, the hurting, women and children. They worship and praise alongside the rich and famous who walk that beach in the thousands. We also feed the people, distribute clothes, and provide resource information to help get people off the streets, if they wish," she said.
A member of West Angeles Church of God in Christ, Daughtry has been in the ministry for 25 years. In 1988, she organized Disciples on the Move as a non-denominational group focused on meeting the spiritual and material needs of the unsaved and economically disadvantaged. The ministry also operates international branches in India and Uganda.
Due to the large crowd of attendees, Daughtry is appealing to local clergy to donate time at the Gospel Crusade. "We are making an urgent call for pastors, missionaries, and soul winners to help us win the lost at Venice Beach. Help us witness, help us baptize, help us in intercession, and help us serve food and pass out clothes," she said.
