August 21, 2011, represents the National Congress of Black Women's Los Angeles Chapter's second West Coast Anniversary and Awards Luncheon, held at the Hyatt Regency in Long Beach.The ladies of the Los Angeles Chapter of the National Congress of Black Women, Inc., honored guests, community supporters and many other powerful women that came out to celebrate success to a sold out crowd.U.S. Congresswoman Maxine Waters, 35th District of California; Lula Washington, Lula Washington Dance Theatre; Reginald "Reggie" Andrews - educator, mentor and music producer, and Arlene Jackson, CEO, Restoring Hope Community Services, Incorporated were honored for their commitment to "Community Excellence.‚" Dr. E. Faye Williams, Esq., National Chair of the National Congress of Black Women, Inc. was the keynote speaker.Congresswoman Maxine Waters, 35th District of California was the guest speaker and recipient of the Excellence Awards. Council-woman Lula Davis-Holmes, City of Carson and 3rd Vice Chair of the Los Angeles Chapter, was the Mistress of Ceremonies.During the reception, acclaimed actor and author of "A Man From Another Land," Isaiah Washington, held a special book signing. Honorable Mervyn Dymally was in the audience for support.Exclusive art pieces were also on display for purchase as well as a silent auction of Red Earth by artist Toni Scott.The Los Angeles Chapter takes pride in "Saluting Community Excellence."
