Pastor Preston Hayes
Pastor Preston Hayes and the members of Light Ministries Baptist Church are participating in ‘Back to Church Sunday,' a national movement of churches to encourage formerly churched people to rediscover church and try it again.
The service will be held on Sunday, September 18, at 11 a.m., in the edifice at 3811 West Slauson Avenue in Los Angeles.
"Light Ministries is a small community church that has operated for 28 years in the greater Los Angeles area. We are joining with 10,000 churches nationwide to invite people to church and share God's love," said Pastor Hayes.
"According to LifeWay Research, 38 percent of people are receptive or highly receptive to attending church and 82 percent say they would be open to attending church if a friend invited them. But, unfortunately only 21 percent of active church-going Christians invited someone to church last year.
"We are joining with thousands of churches to help change those statistics by inviting everyone to attend our church on National Back to Church Sunday," he said.
Light Ministries Baptist Church holds worship services every Sunday at 11 a.m., and Bible Study on Wednesdays at 7:30 p.m. Pastor Hayes said, "Our goal is to teach the word of God with simplicity and understanding, so that it ay be applied to our everyday lives in a practical and effective way; thereby, being transformed into people of light, lighting our immediate world, and ultimately making a lasting mark that cannot be hidden!"
