The Rev. Naima Imani Lett and the Rev. Francine Brookins will headline the Women’s Luncheon and Annual Day Service sponsored by the Women’s Ministry of Brookins Community A.M.E. Church, 4831 South Gramercy Place in Los Angeles. The theme, ‘She Speaks: Wisdom to the Modern Black Woman,’ is based on Proverbs 4:5-7.
The luncheon, set for Saturday, May 18, at 11:30 a.m., features the Rev. Lett, who will present excerpts from ‘Shattered Silhouettes,’ a dramatic production about women of the Bible. Also, the ‘Brookins Woman of the Year’ will be announced. The ticket donation is $35. On Sunday, May 18, at 9 a.m., the Rev. Brookins will deliver the sermon.
“We encourage women, men and youth throughout greater Los Angeles to join us and be inspired by these anointed, powerful preachers,” said Pastor Gregory McLeod.
The Rev. Lett is an award-winning actor, producer, pastor and author of the upcoming series, ‘Confessions of a Hollywood Christian.’ She and her husband, Kevin, recently founded Hope in the Hills, a new church plant in Beverly Hills.
