“Electric Roots” to debut at the 2014 Pan African Film & Arts Festival

Electric Roots is a short film series that explores the deep origins of Techno music from its Detroit birthplace to parts known and unknown all over the world. The first episode “South Africa” featuring superstar DJ/producers Black Coffee and Richie Hawtin, will make its debut at the 22nd Annual Pan African Film & Arts Festival during Black History Month.

“We take you deep into the House and Techno scene of South Africa, and with the help of some of the biggest in the business, we make connections going all the way back to the music made in my hometown of Detroit in the early 80’s,” explains writer/director Kristian R. Hill.

Most recently, Mr. Hill received top accolades with an NAACP Awards nomination for Postcards: Mandela, a special feature that recently aired on the Africa Channel.

Since its commencement two years ago, the Cape Town Electronic Music Festival has been attracting massive crowds from all corners of the world and some of the most influential DJ's in the business for three days of live electronic music performances. This particular look into the world of South Africa's amazing retelling of Techno music via its Detroit birthplace, along with the amazing landscapes and views of Cape Town and Johannesburg are sure to leave you wanting more.
