FKCP Students

Anika Washington and Mati Butler are among the many scholar/sports stars at Frederick K.C. Price III School (FKCP).

Their achievements are not surprising considering the school’s acclaimed reputation. Operated by Crenshaw Christian Center (CCC) in South Los Angeles, FKCP boasts a 100% high school graduation rate, a 100% college acceptance rate, championship athletic teams, impressive scholars, and over $1 million in college scholarships and grants to the students.

Those statistics work well for Washington and Butler, who are top players on the FKCP volleyball team and excel in the classroom as well.

“I love the support [at FKCP]. The teachers push you and instill a drive in you. If it wasn’t for me coming here, I wouldn’t have such an academic drive,” said Butler.

“My answer is pretty much the same. I love that it’s a small intimate environment. You get to have one-on-one time with teachers,” added Washington.

Their involvement in volleyball has been rewarding, too.  Washington noted, “I have played volleyball for four years and I enjoy being on a team with other people who share the same interest as me.”

“I’ve been playing volleyball since I was in 9th grade and little did I know it would become my passion,” remarked Butler.

As for the future after graduation, Washington said, “I plan to study bio-chemistry to become a pharmacist.”

Butler’s preference is a school where she can hone her artistic talents. “I sing, act and dance, so I’ll be majoring in musical theater,” she said.

“I’ve been the lead in most of my high school productions since the 9th grade and I’m over the youth department at my church.  Also, I write plays as well as choreograph dances for most of my shows.”

They also recommend FKCP to prospective students due to its great advantages. According to Washington, “Our school has a 100 percent UC and California school acceptance rate, so why not go here because you’re almost guaranteed to go to college.

“Also, it’s a Christian school. We have Bible classes and you actually get to learn about God while being in an environment with Christians,” she said.

Offering a comparable endorsement, Butler said, “This is the perfect school if you’re struggling with your grades because your teachers care enough to spend time with you and help you.”

FKCP is accredited by Western Association of Schools and Colleges  and the Association of Christian Schools International.  The school offers AP (Advanced Placement) and Honors courses, a Performing Arts Department, state of the art recording studio, a Robotics Team, and a Mac Computer Lab and Smart Board.
