The community is invited to drop off their old and non‐functional cell phones, televisions, computers, calculators, digital clocks, and other electronic devices at the e‐waste recycling truck at EarthFest LA 2013 at West Los Angeles College on September 28.
Recycling e‐waste reduces the amount of toxic and hazardous materials dumped into landfills, which take up space and can leach into soil and water. These toxins include mercury, lead, cadmium, beryllium and chromium.
Additionally, materials such as aluminum, copper, silver and plastics are recovered, conserving resources and the energy needed to produce new electronic equipment from virgin resources.
West is an accredited community college located at 9000 Overland Avenue (between Slauson and Jefferson) ‐ Culver City, CA 90230. Enter the college from Overland, or from Jefferson between Overland and La Cienega. Follow the signs to the recycling truck.
