Richard Sylvester Andrews Sr. will always be an admired figure in the South Los Angeles community. Mr. Andrews resided in South Los Angeles all eighty-one years of his life, and he lived in his home on 48th street for seventy-one years. From that home Mr. Andrews raised a beautiful family with his wife Olivia Andrews, and poured unconditional love into his community and its residents. He was affectionately crowned the King of 48th street because of his devotion to his community. At his home he created the Andrews Garden, an impressive collection of plants and cacti frequently enjoyed by family and visitors. Aside from his family, Mr. Richard Andrews Sr. leaves behind a legacy of love for his community as evidenced by the respect he earned, his historical accounts, and the Andrews Garden, which serves as a tangible reminder of the love that bloomed from Mr. Andrew’s heart.
