Holman United Methodist Church will observe its 68th Anniversary Homecoming with a three-day celebration beginning Friday, July 26, through Sunday, July 28, on its campus at 3320 West Adams Boulevard in Los Angeles.
“You, your family, and your friends are invited to join us in commemorating Holman’s rich past and dynamic diversity,” said Pastor Kelvin Sauls, who added that the Homecoming theme is ‘Obedience To The Faith’ based on Acts 6:1-7.
“The weekend kicks-off on Friday at 6:30 p.m., with a "Concert Under The Stars" featuring the Holman Choir under the direction of William Campbell, Jr. Also, the Jester Hairston Scholarship winners and saxophonist extraordinaire, Jay Boykins, will appear, ” Pastor Sauls said.
The Youth Explosion IV takes place on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. DJ music, Karaoke, board and table games, Fire Department truck and demonstration, jumpers, movies, health screenings, table tennis, and face painting for toddlers to teens will be available.
On Sunday, worship celebrations will be held at 8 a.m. and 11 a.m., followed by the Homecoming Reception in the L.L. White Hall at 1 p.m.
The program will include a presentation of Holman's history by the Holman Drama Ministry, the Fuse Dance Ministry, gospel music by The Ward A.M.E. Men's Choir, and a video conference with Laura Wise, a Holman young adult missionary serving in Davao, Philippines.
