“All Aboard the Lenten Caravan,” encouraged the Rev. Dr. Clyde W. Oden, pastor of Bryant Temple A.M.E. Church.
The Caravan is a series of worship services that begin on Ash Wednesday and continue every Wednesday at several A.M.E. churches in Los Angeles. The worship is designed to heighten the spiritual awareness, sensitivities and focus of Christians in the six weeks leading up to Resurrection Sunday.
Bryant Temple, located at 2525 West Vernon Avenue in Los Angeles, will host the service on Wednesday, February 20, at 7 p.m. The featured preacher is Pastor Kelvin T. Calloway of Bethel A.M.E. Church in Los Angeles.
“In addition to high energy worship, the Lenten Caravan will award grants to the Ruby’s Houses, a South Los Angeles Christian sanctuary for women and children seeking safety and housing; and Bethel A.M.E. – Monrovia, whose pastor recently died,” said Dr. Oden.
In subsequent weeks, Second A.M.E., First A.M.E. - Pasadena, New Philadelphia A.M.E., and Bethel A.M.E. will host the Lenten Caravan.
